Theta is an explorer, and she loves the red rocks in Utah as much as I do. I created this piece in two phases over a year. Phase One was on location, at Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest on the way to Bryce Canyon in Utah. I just adored the color of the sky against those red rocks, and this turned out to be one of my favorite stops even though a thunderstorm rolled through before I was able to get very far in the painting! (I finished it later). Phase Two was adding a story through Theta the Space Cowgirl, who is drawn in pencil on tracing paper and then securely glued onto the watercolor paper.
