This painting is based on a snapshot I took from a moving car driving along the Sustina River on Highway 3 in Alaska in September. The drawing is a salmon based on traditional Haida art. The piece speaks to the transcendental wildness you find in Alaska. The land is such an immense character in Alaskan life - every living thing that finds themselves in it must contend with it and learn to work with it to survive and thrive.
