FINDING MAGIC IN THE MUNDANE

Life can be so much more delightful, fun, and exciting if you're open to it, and very little has to change circumstantially to see it.

Here are a few ways I like to reconnect with the extraordinary in the ordinary whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed or bogged down:

Keep a Gratitude Journal - hands down the simplest and most effective tool for seeing the world in a more beautiful light. I write a few things I'm grateful for every day in my regular journal, but I've also kept a small notebook by my bedside to write in right before bed. Just start with three things a day, and they can be anything at all. I've been doing this for years now and it has changed my entire outlook on life and my appreciation for the abundant life and love I experience daily.
Stop and Smell the Roses - literally is good enough. Other ways to pause and notice your surroundings: Put your phone down and look around you. Turn the audiobook/podcast/radio off for a minute and notice what else you hear in the space you inhabit. Take a long, deep breath and hold your coffee cup in your hands before you take the first sip, and savor it. All these things take mere moments, but if we don't put small pauses in our day, we have a much harder time appreciating the lovely little things we get to enjoy.
Play with Magic - I enjoy a good ritual. I personally love crystals and candles and oracle/tarot cards and having an altar set up to pray and journal at, but your sacred space can be in your car with some music or a podcast that uplifts you, or at your bedside table to connect with when you wake up and fall asleep, or even at your desk in the form of a little tray with trinkets you love to look at. Whatever form it takes for you (and it can change with your energy or the seasons!) it should bring you joy, make you feel safe and connected, and be somewhere you can come back to for a quick daily refresh of spirit.

I have really been digging the music of East Forest ("Music For Mushrooms" and "Music to Be Born To/Die To" are my favs) if you're looking for some mood music to help you feel a little more extraordinary in your daily life.

What helps you feel connected to the magic in your life?
